What is a screed mixer and do I need one?
A screed mixer is a high-capacity, motor-driven mixer designed to handle large volumes of cementitious material efficiently and consistently. Unlike a hand mixer, a screed mixer operates continuously and can process significantly larger batch sizes, making it the preferred choice for fabricators producing multiple panels, benchtops, or elements per day.
For GFRC production, a screed mixer is worth considering if you are regularly mixing more than two to three bags per batch, or if mixing time is becoming a bottleneck in your workflow. For ECC production, a pan mixer is required to properly mix and disperse the fibre system. What is the difference between a hand mixer and a screed mixer?
The key differences come down to batch size, speed, and physical effort:
- Collomix X06 R Hand Mixer — handheld, operator-controlled, suited to buckets up to approximately 30–40L. Best for single-bag or double-bag batches in a studio or workshop setting. The RMX Mixing Stand, which takes the weight of the mixer during longer sessions, allowing for better control of the paddle and more consistent mixing.
